Renewable Energy Groups Push NY to Put a Price on Carbon

How will New York State reach its goal of 70% renewable energy by 2030 (and 100% by 2040) under the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act? One route, urged by the Alliance for Clean Energy New York in a new report, is the adoption of carbon pricing by NYISO. Studies cited in the ACENY report predict that although energy prices could increase during the first three years of putting a price on carbon in New York, energy prices would then decline below current levels.
